Tips and Tricks to Password Ms Excel Protect Excel 2003/2007/2010

Method 1. Encrypt Excel Directly

Microsoft Excel has the built-in ability to let user to set password for Excel files freely. If you don't want to use additional software as the assistant, you may active this ability.

Different versions of Excel has a variety operation. If you are using Excel 2003, you need to open the spreadsheet that you want to Encrypt, click "Tools > Options > Security. Just Click the advanced button. From the Encryption Type menu, scroll down and chose RC4, Microsoft Enhanced RSA and AES Cryptographic Provider (Prototype). Leave the Key Length set to 128 and the Encrypt document properties check box. Click OK. Now you can enter the password for the Excel document.

If you are using Excel 2007, just click the Office Orb, then Prepare section. Click Encrypt Document. Now, you can type in your password and click OK.

If your Excel is 2010 version, just click "File > Info > Protect Workbook > Encrypt with Password". See attached picture for an example of the pop up window that will prompt you for your password.

Method 2. Use Professional Excel Encryptor

If you are looking for a stronger way to set password for Excel, you may use professional Excel Encryptor - Windows Optimizer for the helper. It simplifies the Excel encryption process into two steps. This software can also set password for the whole folder so you needn't to set password for tons of Excel document one by one. What's more, it is available for all versions of Excel.

Run this software and go to "Privacy & Security" on the main interface. Choose "File Encryption".

Now you can add Excel files or the whole folder to the software for encryption. Then you can set a password for your World document or folder. You may change the export destination.

So easy. Now you may feel ease that your Excel file cannot be accessed by other people without correct password.
